Self Improvement: quick fix or defining moment

Defining Moment
What do I mean by defining moments? Usually we think of them as crisis! The following are just a few.
• Loss of job
• Divorce
• The death of someone close
• An illness that you are convinced was a near death experience for you.
• Financial loss
• Coming to the point where it is change or die (This one depends on sincerity)
These sorts of experiences can put you in a mind set that says change must start NOW! I still say the process of change will usually take time, but an event like these can be the defining moment when you finally decide to do something about your life. This defining moment can come on you like a lightening bolt!
What do you do with your defining moment when you get one? The best thing is to keep it constantly in the forefront of your mind and heart. We quickly become used to things and thoughts in our lives. With all the stimulus we have going on around us, it is easy for a defining moment to become lost in the shuffle.
Hold that moment in your thoughts. Think about it several times a day and remind yourself why this moment is defining how you want to change your life.
Remember, life change, life improvement begins in the spirit, in the heart of hearts and that’s where you need to keep your defining moment.
Use your defining moment to stimulate your plan for change. Let it help you decide what needs to be done first. Build how you want to improve your life from there.
We all have defining moments. We usually have several of them in our lifetime. Do you have one? Think back, if one doesn’t come to mind immediately, and see if you can’t find a moment in your life that screamed that you needed to make a change.
Once you have that moment firmly in your mind, start working on how you plan to improve things. You might perform some little ceremony or ritual to make another defining moment that is built on the first one. Now is the time! Don’t wait another year!
