Falling Down, Improving Yourself
Just recently, I spoke about how our words create our world. What we say has much to do with what our world looks like, what our experience is. It is my goal in life to teach people the principles in life that work to make a better life. I know they work because I have tried them and found that they work. That doesn’t always mean they are fun! I spoke about how when a mountain of trouble appears before us, we must climb over it; how we should be excited to make the climb. I just had to eat my own words!
I was trying to change something on my website and, due to my own ineptness, lost just about everything I had. You may notice that the site looks different. I have to admit that excitement is not exactly how I would define my feeling last night. I will say that I did not let it put me in a major depression, but I was just very thoughtful about how I could fix the problem or if anyone would come to my aid.
Lynn Terry, Traci Knoppe and all the crew over at SSWT were great help and they tried their best, but when I screw something up, I usually do a real good job! There was not much to be done but start from scratch.
I have often read that Thomas Edison was once interviewed and asked how he felt failing ten thousand times to make the light bulb. His answer was that he didn’t fail; he discovered ten thousand ways to not make a light bulb. I have found the same thing about website building!
To fall down is not much fun, but if we keep our head up and keep going, it is not all that bad. Sure it may cause us some work. Sure, we may need to ask for help and swallow our pride, but in the end, we learn.
What are you struggling with now? What problems seem to appear as large as a mountain? Whatever they may be, don’t give up. Keep looking for the learning in the experience and move forward. To fail is only a failure if you don’t learn from the experience.
