Create Your Life: Overcoming Procrastination

Yesterday I wrote about patience. You have to have patience in life. Nothing comes as fast or as easy as you want it to. At least that’s how it is for me. I want it all; and I want it now! The other side to this is how to overcome procrastination.

It is true that we need to have patience. However, what plagues many people isn’t patience, but procrastination. They have dreams and desires, but something keeps telling them that it’s all right to wait until tomorrow. Perhaps the stars will be in alignment or the weather will be perfect. Some excuse or other stops them.

Here’s how to defeat procrastination. Don’t wait! Yep, that’s it. Don’t wait. Whatever it is you want to do, don’t put it off. Take a step today, right now, no matter how small, toward the goal you have. After you’ve taken that step, take another one. Take as many as you possibly can. If you wait for the circumstances to be perfect, you will never move, because they never will.

Anything you want to do greater than go get another cup of coffee will probably take patience. Things take time and the bigger the project, generally, the more time it takes. If you procrastinate it will take forever! I would rather overcome procrastination and learn to have patience.
