Living Life to the Fullest

Over the last couple of days, I have been having a conversation with

The Good Life

The Good Life

my wife about living life to the fullest and how so many people seem to not do so. We seem, especially in the United States, to have our life filters set to, “moderate” all the time. We eat, but we don’t taste. We have sex, but we don’t love, we enjoy, but minutes later can’t remember what it was we were enjoying.

When I was growing up, I lived next door to an older couple who had no children. They were refinement personified, to my childhood mind. They had art work hanging on the walls and statues sitting here and there. They traveled to Europe and they had a wonderful baby grand piano that I learned to play. Compared to my home, which was standard lower middle class, their place seemed like a castle in some fairy story. I have loved the finer things ever since.

Now when I say finer things, I don’t mean that I wear cashmere suits and drive a Rolls Royce. I mean I like to enjoy a good wine or meal. I like nice things, but more than that, I enjoy enjoying. One of my fondest memories is of sitting in a little sidewalk cafe inSacket’s Harbor, NY called Karen’s Kafe and Bistro. The food was good and they had some wonderful beers. What I liked most, however, was talking to my wife in the warm sunshine and then another couple who were traveling on their motorcycle and stopped for a quick lunch. I could have stayed there for hours!

I have to admit that I am not always like that. Sometimes I wolf down my food and hardly know what it tasted like. I guzzle down my wine and hardly know if it is a Cabernet or a cheap fruit drink. I am around people and don’t even notice them.

I want to change that! I want to change my life and the lives of everyone I can. I want to bring life up from the dark, dank basement of mediocrity and bring it into the full light of a glorious day! I want to tell you the things that have made my life more enjoyable and how you can have it too!

Some might say that this is being too hedonistic. I don’t think so. I think we were created to enjoy life in all its abundance. We were create to create for the enjoyment of others. We were created to be in relationship! That isn’t hedonism. It’s how it is supposed to be!

Join me in this adventure! I will be sharing products and places, people and ideas. If we are going to be alive, why not be really alive?

Here’s to You!
