Living the Good Life!
I enjoy living. As the old saying goes, it beats the alternative. I’ll tell you one thing though. I sometimes act like I don’t enjoy living at all. One of the ways that I do this is by not living a healthy life.
My problem is, I sit at my computer for hours on end without doing any sort of exercise. Now this may sound strange for someone who is a yoga instructor, and I am, but it is the truth. I am very flexible, but I don’t do much in the way of aerobic exercise or strength building, at least I didn’t. I have started doing more and getting out of my chair once an hour. I do some push-ups, sit-ups, and dumbbell weights. I learned about periodic exercise from a book I have recommended before called The Power of Full Engagement. A great book, and one I think everybody should read. Scott Tousignant, over at fat loss quickie has some great workouts to do while you work and while taking a break.
Something else I have been doing is going for more walks. I started having pain in my knees and found that I had given myself a form of tendinitis by sitting in my chair too much and particularly letting my chair lean back so that my feet were dangling off the floor. This put lots of stress on my knees and it wasn’t long and I had a hard time walking.
Now I am going for a walk nearly everyday. The problem I have is that I live in upstate New York and this time of year, it gets a little nasty outside. I have been using our old treadmill and it really gives me a workout, but it is getting really old. I have been looking at new treadmills and I like the Bowflex Series 7.

This thing is sweet and looks durable enough to hold up under my abuse. I have never set foot on one, but I think it looks good and hope to get one soon.
Living the good life is really hard if you are not as healthy as you absolutely can be. We all have things about us that are not perfect and the older we get, the more our bodies seem to want to revolt. We can do something about this, however. We are designed to move and the more we do so, the better we feel. If we feel good, then life gets better. Why allow yourself to miss the good life because you were too lazy to get up and move around?

I also sit behind a computer and find it hard to exercise regularly. However, I have decided to make some lifestyle changes myself. I use to exercise religiously but got away from it. I will have to check out the book you recommended for more tips. Thanks!
