Playing it Safe
To begin with, I want to say that I am not advocating that you begin to live a reckless, dangerous manner. I don’t think you should skitching behind a city bus or joining the run of the bulls at Pamplona. What I am saying is that living a life that is fearful and always playing it safe, could be a block to success in life.

The secret to success
I read a great blog post by my Aussie friend Annabel at Get in the Hot Spot. I’m going to give you a link to the post in a minute, but first I want to give my own version of what she said.
Get off your duff!
The secret to success isn’t in wishing, it’s in doing. The popular phrase the law of attraction has, unfortunately, become synonymous with wish it and it comes true. The truth is, wishing it does not make it come true and it will probably lead to great disappointment.
Positive thinking works great when it is coupled with action. I am all for looking at your life or a situation in your life and thinking in a positive way how you can turn that life or situation around and make it something that is good for you and those around you.
The next step, however, is to get up off your arse (as Annabel said it) and do something!
Do you attract or not?
I believe in what most people would call God. I call it the Infinite, mostly because the term “God” has been used for some things that are very un-god-like. The point is, I believe that there is something larger than us. You can call it the Universe, the Source, God, whatever you like, but it’s there.
I believe that we are a part of this Infinite Source and when we become aware of our connection and begin to have faith that we can do immeasurably more than we think, then opportunities are set in motion.
I have said before that I believe that most of these opportunities are already around us and we just don’t see them. Ike the forest for the trees, we look, but are unaware. That does not mean that things cannot and do not move toward those who seek them out, but now we go back to the first part. You have to be moving toward it before it will move toward you.
Faith
Our faith in the Infinite, ourselves, and the possibilities help us to bring our passion, our desires to a place where they become realities. It is work, not wishes, it is planning and persistence toward the goal that brings results.
The secret
The secret to success is to have a desire, a passion. Believe that your passion can become real and that you can bring it to reality through continued hard word and faith that you will find the way. Keep at it until it happens.

Are you afraid to succeed? I bet the first thing that went through your mind was that you were not afraid. The thing is, what stops most of us from succeeding is fear. Now that fear isn’t just the cold chill you get when you have a fright, it is bigger than that.
There is a fear of criticism. Being afraid that someone will think you are crazy and say so or that you are foolish wanting to do whatever it is you want. If our parents were negative or belittled what we did, we most likely have a fear of criticism.
There is the fear of failure. We are afraid that we might fail so we never try. Again parents who are condescending can bring on this fear. Maybe it was a teacher or it might have even been a friend. Wherever it came from, fear of failure plagues many.
On the opposite side there is a fear of success. Believe it or not, many people are afraid that they will succeed and they won’t be able to handle it or they will come under one of the first two once they succeed.
There is a fear of poverty. What if you put all your money into some venture and it doesn’t come through and suddenly you have nothing; all your money is gone! What if it gets so bad that you lose your home and you are living on the streets? Fear of poverty stops lots of us.
There are other fears as well, but these are some of the most common. Are you afraid? Do you have one of those fears mentioned? Once you understand it and realize that you have that fear, it does much to dispel it. Knowing a fear takes away much of its power.

I went down to the farmer’s market to get some fresh produce and fruit. I noticed something as I walked around the stalls and watched the merchants selling their goods. Those who had a smile on their face and were engaging their customers were making more money than those who were withdrawn and only looked up when someone clearly wanted to buy. Having a positive attitude was rewarding, having a negative attitude was not.
Whatever it is you do in life, whether it is in your work life, or at home, your attitude has much to do with how your life is shaped! I once knew a young man who had a goal of climbing the corporate ladder as quickly as he could. His mode of operation was that whatever his supervisors would ask of him, he did it with a good attitude, he did it quickly, and he did it to the best of his ability. His whole persona was one of positive thinking and action.
I marveled at how quickly he rose to the top; in spite of the ponytail he wore! Now, I am not saying he was a puppy-dog. If he disagreed, he would say so, but everything was done with the attitude that he wanted to do what was right. My attitude, at that time, was like everyday was a pain for me to be there, and every task torture. It wasn’t long and I moved on, looking for the “right” thing. You want to guess who took my place?
What is your attitude like? Take the next few days and evaluate your own attitude at work and at home. Be honest with yourself and when Monday comes, have a good attitude, the best attitude you can have. Let your inner self be the motivation you need to go out into the world and conquer it!

This morning I had the experience of listening to a podcast about law of attraction and gaining wealth. I thought what the woman had to say was very interesting, but I cannot say that I agree with her completely. 
She was saying, and it was a major part of her talk, was that we only have to put out into the universe our desires and they will come about. All we have to do is to be clear what it is we want so that the universe does not get confused.
She also said that since everything is energy, all we have to do in vibrate at the same frequency as whatever you desires.
It is true that we have to be clear about what we want. The more unclear we are, the less likely we will ever get anything or get anywhere. Where I have a problem is that we don’t have to do anything other than wait and vibrate!
Putting our desires, our goals out into the universe if fine; I am all about the law of attraction bringing into our lives what we believe and think about. I could just envision these people wanting a better life, wanting to change their lives and putting out into the ether what they want and then calmly sitting on the couch and waiting for it to happen, vibrating away until their nose falls off.
Yes, the Universe, God, the Infinite, whatever you want to call it will help you in your quest for a better life, but notice I said quest. You can’t have a quest by sitting on your bum. Your beliefs, thoughts and actions create your reality.
Know what you want! Spend some time in honest goal setting. Put out what you want, into the Infinite and then get up and go to work. Each day, work toward the goal. When your receive guidance and inspiration that will surely come, do something with it!
