What is your dream? Do you dream of a wonderful cruise? Maybe it is strolling on a tropical beach. Perhaps it is driving an expensive car, maybe a sports car. Maybe your dream is something else. The question is; what is it?
Have you given up your dreams? Why? Maybe you thought them too selfish or unreachable. Maybe you thought that they were just silly. Whatever the reason, I would like to encourage you to relive those dreams again.
Our dreams are what give life some meaning and excitement. Without dreams, each day is a drudgery of work and “shoulds.” Have you ever spent time thinking about what you would do if you really won the lottery? Have you noticed how fun it is to imagine those things you would do and the life you would have? The excitement is what our dreams bring us.
Here is the good news! You can have your dreams. You can have most anything you want in this life. Here’s the bad news! You will have to work for it.
The good news that you can have most anything you want might be hard to swallow. The fact is, it is true. No, you can’t be the King of Siam. The country of Siam doesn’t exist anymore and being King of anywhere usually means you have to be born into it. Other than a few things like that, you can have what you want.
The bad news that you have to work for it is what drives most people to stop dreaming, but it shouldn’t. Getting there is more than half the fun! You have to decide what you want and understand what it takes to get there. Maybe you will decide that it is not worth the price, maybe you will decide it is.
Next you have to set some goals on how to get there and make some plans to achieve those goals. (See the Goal Setting Page)
Go ahead and dream. Figure out what you really want and then go after it! It is your life! Why not make the most of it?

I like your article.
Living without a dream, can sometimes be a real drag. I’d like to share a poem I wrote some years ago. I hope you don’t mind.

To Dream
To set pen to verse, the rhyme, the rhythm, the meter,
diameter, the stanza, the scheme, should the rhymer dare to dream
transcending mediocrity?
The greatness looms; the height chills the marrow.
The telling has been told; it drips from their pages like honey.
Their shadows fill the earth.
A ray, an ember, has but little chance to kindle
perhaps the smallest flame to warm the bones,
enough for hope to reach the page.
What determines greatness? Talent? Knowledge?
Experience?
Or is it in the trying?
Are the heroes to be found facing the insurmountable odds
of ever becoming known outside their circle of dreams?
To those who are arrogant, conceited, and have the audacity to think
their words important, adieu.
To those in love with language, with the thought , the idea, the wonder,
the beauty, the hope – speak, dream the dreams, they do come true.
Even though this poem is about writing, it can fit any dream. Don’t let your failures, or other people’s opinions, put an end to your dreams.
